Left: In 1938, Kenneth P. Bailey was awarded UCLA's first Ph.D.,
and became the campus' first triple degree holder.
Right: In 1988, Bailey was invited back to UCLA, in honor of the 50th anniversary
of his accomplishment. Bailey died in 2000.
