Vermont Avenue campus
UCLA, first known as the Southern Branch of the University of California took over the site
of the State Normal School on Vermont Avenue, where Los Angeles City College now stands.
In 1919, the Normal School property was transferred to the UC Regents. Here, students walk
across the school's main quad.
